Thanks for your response, yes tried that I think it only stops any future updates. Thanks though I’ve got a funny feeling a full reset to factory settings is going to be the only way.

Ended up doing a reset to factory settings. Not intentionally though it was a mistake. Reset all the way back to the first set up and lost everything. Even when I updated back to Ventura for Some reason Time Machine didn’t recognise any back ups that I’d done. Searched on uncle google and found a way to restore from the backup using the migration assistant. All back to normal now with limited loss
