How Do I Stop Xcode Adding Old Git Repos to Source Control Navigator?
Version 12.5 (12E262) but this was happening in the last few previous versions. I'm new to Xcode and trying to figure out why every time I try to set up a Workspace, add an existing project, or even point the file navigator at a local Git repo on disk, Xcode goes off and searches ALL my disks and pulls in EVERY Git repo it can find to Source Control Navigator. I'm talking repos from 10 years ago on my external RAID array buried in folders that I probably haven't opened since they were on a Linux dev box in a data center in 2011. As soon as I open the main Xcode window I can hear it start thrashing the disks and searching for repos. Can someone tell me why and how to stop it? I want to be able to work with all the files in one Git repo and isolate everything to just that file tree and not be trying to twiddle remotes from bygone eras or dig through trees in Source Control Navigator to find the repo I'm working in. This happens whether I try to create a Workspace or a Project. I found a few recommendations online about editing/deleting project data files in the Xcode ~/Library files but while these solutions offer temporary victories I inevitably hear those disks start thrashing.
