In Settings -> Accessibility -> Keyboards & Typing -> Full Keyboard Access -> Commands Under “Basic” list click on ”Activate” if ‘Space’ or ‘Spacebar’ is listed as the associated command. A menu will pop up. Click “Clear”. I don’t use the ‘Activate’ command myself but if you do you can program a different key or key combination to replace the spacebar.
