It’s honestly really bad. I have 2 M1 2021 iPad Pros and gaming performance is really bad. The thing heats up like crazy and it can’t even run Genshin Impact on medium resolution with med-low graphics at 60 FPS smoothly. Extremely disappointing for games, not worth half its price.

Same, gaming performance on the 2021 M1 iPad is really, really disappointing. Genshin Impact runs really poorly even at compromising settings, PUBG looks exactly the same like 2017 model, etc. All the reviews go yapping about “incredibly fast M1” but in reality the thing performs really bad so far.

This is basically due to Tencent being unwilling to give you better graphics - it’s not that they can’t, they just don’t want to for whatever reason for a long time now. They reserve good graphics for Game for Peace only; PUBG Mobile is just a cash cow for them so you can expect minimal to no effort. Maybe PUBG: New State will look and run better instead so people can leave global version.

This happens on M2 iPad Pros as well: Genshin Impact, for example, runs differently at 60 FPS depending on whether the display refresh rate is left on default 120 or changed to 60. If you limit the display to 60 HZ in Settings, Genshin runs noticeably smoother at 60 FPS. If the iPad is left at its default settings, there's a stutter while moving the camera that isn't gameplay or game-related (because the game itself doesn't lag when set to specific 100% smooth settings, which means it's Pro Motion that's the problem).
