Comment on macOS Gatekeeper gatekeeping text files?
Following up on this to point out why this is really really bad, and urgently needs to be fixed. I just worked 120 files, all text files but with a .wiki extension when I received them, as they are wikipedia articles. For each: Try to open it Click the non-default option (default option was to trash my file!!) I had to go into System Settings, find Gatekeeper, and tell it this one file is ok I can now bypass Gatekeeper with my eyes closed. Worst possible scenario for security.

Comment on macOS Gatekeeper gatekeeping text files?
There's an important reason why this is terrible for security. I just worked 120 files. For each, I try to open it, then go to System Settings, find gatekeeper, allow it, and then dodge Apple's default which is to TRASH MY FILE if I just hit enter. Now I've done it so many times that it's a habit. This "security" feature is now completely useless, because I'm never again going to take gatekeeper seriously, and will have bypassed it before my brain even registers if something is a threat.
