Reply to DeviceActivityCenter startMonitoring Error
DeviceActivityCenter startMonitoring cannot start multiple monitors
Hello, we have an app live on the store which uses the same API and we found that there are just some devices which do not work with the DeviceActivityCenter. Do you see any error message in the logs when that happens? In such cases we explain the users that there is a bug in Apple’s system and offer a refund (that’s all you can do). I would encourage you to file a feedback report (including a sysdiagnose and a minimal sample project to reproduce the issue) so the Engineers at Apple are aware of this issue and can address it. For reference, I have filed a couple of related reports: FB13768925 FB14082031 FB12195437 FB18198691 FB18351583 FB18061981

Reply to Can We Display Screen Time Data in WidgetKit?
Home Screen widget for iOS that displays device usage statistics
This is not possible unfortunately. The DeviceActivityReport does not work in widgets. But it would be a cool feature for sure! Feedback Requests: FB18927789 FB16409127 I would highly encourage you to file a feedback request on this as well! See also this thread, same issue has already been discussed in 2023 and seems like Apple did not consider the enhancement requests from back then: https://forums.developer.apple.com/forums/thread/724041

Reply to Open Parent App From ShieldActionDelegate
Got a response from technical support regarding my ticket. They confirmed that this functionality is not supported, and they were unable to clarify whether other apps (e.g. Jomo, Applocker) are using public methods or not. I think they are just referring to documentation though. Will keep digging.
Thanks a lot for sharing! Too bad they could not give us guidance :/

Reply to Tokens change without reason after updating to iOS 17.5.1
I’ve set myself a remember to come back and check on this in a week.
Hey Quinn! I just wanted to let you know that I was still able to reproduce this on iOS 26 beta 4 which came out on Tuesday. To further help narrow down the bug, I have collected another sysdiagnose on that latest beta and attached it to this feedback: FB18764644 (Filename: sysdiagnose_2025.07.26…) Hope that helps! Also, I’m really curious if you’ve heard anything back from the team! Do they need any additional help reproducing this issue? My offer still stands: if any additional help to reproduce this is required, I’ll fly all the way to Cupertino to help them out wherever I can!

Reply to Screen Time Counting App Usage While Shield Is Displayed
Is this expected behavior? Is there a way to prevent Screen Time from counting time while the shield is shown?
this sounds like a bug to me. Have you filed a feedback request already? I am experiencing the same problem And I would say it’s unexpected behavior. my feedback is tracked under FB19200003
I’ve confirmed that that bug has the right info and it’s landed in the right place. That’s about all I can do here. I’ve set myself a remember to come back and check on this in a week.
Hey Quinn! Hope you’re having a great summer! Maybe you’re on vacation and haven't had a chance to check back on this, but I’d appreciate an update whenever you have a moment 🙏 Thanks a lot and have a great day!

Reply to Tokens change without reason after updating to iOS 17.5.1
Unfortunately I don’t have any answers for you here. This seems like a bug to me. I’ve verified that your variosu bug reports have found their way to the right engineering team.
Thanks for the update, Quinn! I’ll try to find a different path then to get some attention for this bug. Thanks a lot for your help so far on this!

Reply to iOS 26 regression: `DeviceActivityEvent`: `eventDidReachThreshold` called immediately (instead of waiting till threshold is reached)
Also, for me, cycling (turn off and re-granting) Screen Time permissions didn't fix anything.
Thanks a lot for sharing! I’m a bit worried that we are so late in the beta cycle and this is still not addressed. Did you file a feedback request with sysdiagnose as well? If yes, please share your feedback number so I can reference it in my bug report (& you can do the same, just to make sure our bug reports end up being merged which hopefully gives them a higher priority)

Reply to iOS 26 regression: `DeviceActivityEvent`: `eventDidReachThreshold` called immediately (instead of waiting till threshold is reached)
it is still called immediately upon scheduling the activity
That’s super interesting to know! I am unable to reproduce it right now (usually I can only reproduce it after installing a new beta, then when I reset the permission it works again). So I would love to know if you still see the threshold callback being called when it actually should (= a second time), or do you just get that one call right after scheduling? Because in that case we could quite easily implement a workaround that just ignores threshold callbacks that happen right after scheduling the activity (stupid that this is necessary, but at least I can see this working quite reliably…)
Only the one call right after scheduling and for me it's consistently doing this.
That’s Bad! @Apple: Please fix this! Just relying on the schedule is unfortunately not an option for me. I need the threshold trigger :/

Reply to Token Selection from DeviceActivityReport
Is there ay way to accomplish passing a token from the sandboxed report extension to my app?
Unfortunately, this is not possible. As you have stated, tokens are not sensitive data, but Screen Time usage data is. So Apple is not allowing ANY data to leave the sandboxed DeviceActivityReport :/

Reply to Screen Time API - Get user total screen time
If not, is it expected that this data is only available in the Settings app and not exposed to developers?
Unfortunately, the only way to access this data is within a sandboxed DeviceActivityReport Extension, as you have correctly stated. So there’s no way for you to extract the data and use it for something else. Seems like Apple is keeping that functionality for themselves. You could try filing a feedback request via https://feedbackassistant.apple.com to make sure they’ll consider adding this.
