I have a similar problem after installing ios 14.2 on iPhone 11 pro and iPad 11 pro. One Airpod pro works, the other does not. Noise control is off, spatial audio is off. Disconnected, restarted, same issue. Other non-apple bluetooth headsets work. When inserting both airpods into ears, i hear the ding that both are ready, the left one continues to ding every 20 seconds. like it's connecting and re-connecting. Audio is only coming out of the right ear. Same issue when connecting to the macBook Pro. I then connected Airpods to tvos 14.0 and another running tvOS 14.2 and the opposite airpod works.
