Just a heads up everyone. If you are having this issue, your airpods are counterfeit.

Hi all, I've got an iPhone 12 on iOS 14.2, Apple Watch Series 3 on Watch OS 7.1 Got some new Airpod Pros today and couldn't initally connect to my iPhone but they were working fine with my 2015 MBP. Turning off bluetooth on Apple watch prior to connecting the airpods to iPhone seems to work but this is quite an inconvenience so hoping it gets addressed soon.
