As the title suggests, given today’s overpowered device performance, shouldn’t Safari and WKWebView allow repainting during window resizing? Currently, all WKWebView-based apps pause page rendering during resize. When a user double-clicks the drag region, the sequence goes: pause rendering → enlarge or shrink the window → leave a blank area → repaint the page. The whole process feels inelegant—especially on devices that support ProMotion.

From what I’ve seen, this issue has been around since macOS 13 and can be reproduced reliably. It happens with some apps like Music, Notes, and Google Chrome.
Here’s how to see it:
1.Make sure “Minimize windows into application” is enabled in System Settings, or just open a minimized app later directly from its application icon.
2.Open one of the apps mentioned above.
3.Minimize it.
4.Click the minimized app in the Dock to restore it.
You’ll notice the GUI flashes for a moment and the minimize animation plays again.

I'm developing a cross-platform application using Tauri, which uses WebView technology as the GUI renderer. On macOS, it should be using WKWebView. Based on my tests, all applications developed with Tauri can only run at 60fps on macOS and cannot take advantage of ProMotion displays to achieve a 120fps refresh rate, whereas the same application can run at 120fps on other platforms. I have submitted this issue to Tauri on GitHub, and it appears that this cannot be resolved through external settings, but only by modifying the WKWebView code to support higher frame rates. Is there any possible solution to this?
