I will have to go back and get that. Is there any reason to use this preferentially to opening the URL, which seems to accomplish the same thing and opens directly in Maps.app?

I did try this, and got and error that MKLaunchOptionsDirectionsModeCycling didn't exist in the SDK. On further testing, UIApplication.shared.open(url) with a maps.apple.com url and mode=cycling does seem to work.
