I believe that DASH support is largely a matter of marketing—and I agree with that assessment, as DASH is quite similar to HLS. For my own needs, I simply implemented a basic transformation from MPD to m3u8, and I can now play DASH content using AVPlayer. https://github.com/MaximKomlev/UPlayer
