I encountered the same problem and after a lot of attempts found that distros with Linux kernel 5.15 work fine. For example, one of them is Ubuntu 22.04. It needs more testing, but from first glance it's already working much better, installing and first hours of using showed excellent results with or without GUI. Lower and higher versions of kernel always freeze and sometimes are not even installing.
