This is consistently happening to me when TimeMachine is backing up to my Synology. In my case, the backup reaches somewhere around 85% (though this is probably an arbitrary percentage) and I get a hard freeze, followed by a reset. This would explain the other user's observed behavior of it happening after about 30 minutes.
