Permanently disconnect/disable build-in display on iMac with M1
Hello, does anyone know how to permanently disable the built‑in display in macOS 15 on iMac M1 programmatically or via the terminal? I’m facing a problem — the display cable is broken. As a result, not only does it work poorly, but there’s also severe overheating in the upper right part of the iMac. The warranty has expired, and I don’t have the funds to replace the display right now. So I’m looking for ways to disable the built‑in screen and work only with an external display. At the moment, I’ve found a way to disable the display after logging in, but before logging in, the screen gets hot, and in this mode I won’t be able to upgrade to the new operating system. The process is lengthy, and the screen will become significantly hot. Ideally, the built‑in display should be disabled during reboot and when upgrading to a new version of macOS, and an external display should be used as the main display.
