At left i have the xib and right is the source code editor *.m. Assistant, Automatic. After open the xib the editor is at a line somwhere at code. Now i scroll to top of the source file (.m). Drag a connection from xib to source (IBOutlet). Click at source and the assist(source) jumps to the previews line. Or select a label at xib, scroll the source to another line. Select another object at xib and assist jumps back. I really dont know at witch rules the assist jumps to a line of source code. I simply dont want any automatic jumps.
