Just to be clear, (unless I am mistaken) UTM doesn't use QEMU when virtualizing macOS, but rather Virtualization Framework. Is that supported or not?

oh man, i didnt put that together. Thats so annoying :( It def needs to be communicated to users if an instrument requires a later OS than what one is running.
