I have an OS X El Capitan version 10.11.6 and I am trying to download Xcode but my computer doesn't have the update required to get the latest version of Xcode. So, how do I download an earlier version of Xcode and which version do I download?

The site Xcode Releases (xcodereleases.com) has download links for every Xcode version Apple has ever released along with system requirements. Xcode 8.2.1 is the latest version that will run on macOS 10.11.

and search for XCode.
