Mac Display is Black/Not Working post the Big Sur Update

Hi

Problem : MacBook display is black/Not powering on. The MacBook is working because the magic keyboard is on.

I have a 2019 MacBook Pro which I recently factory reset and updated to big sur this week. The last time I checked my MacBook was completely functional was Friday. It’s Sunday morning right now.

I had left my MacBook on sleep for more than 24 hours and when I tried opening it it’s been a black screen.

There’s no damage, or anything else. The only thing I can imagine is that this has something to do with the Big Sur update.

things I have tried to do so far :

  1. put it in recovery mode. (Still black display)
  2. Reset NVRAM.

Can someone help me bring my display back to life and help me diagnose what the problem could be?

I would really appreciate the help!

Just some ideas:

  • Did you monitor the update to big Sur ?
  • Did it complete correctly ?
  • When you checked last time, was it after update ?
  • Have you a possibility to connect to an external monitor (to see if the problem is a hardware issue or a soft issue) ?
