Mouse scrolling stops working in macOS Monterey

Hi all I have MacBook Pro M1. Yesterday I upgraded my Mac with new macOS Monterey 12.0.1. Since that upgrade my Apple mouse sometimes stops scrolling. It happens when I leave Mac, it goes to sleep mode and when I come back and try to scroll it doesn't work To fix it I turn my mouse off and the turn on.

Who has the same problem let me know in comments please

The issue is resolved now with latest update 12.1

Hi, since the release of macOS 12.0.1, scrolling the magic mouse does not work after waking up the Mac M1

I don't know if this has been posted but you can turn off and on the bluetooth function from MacOS. Once the connection becomes active, scroll function is revived. I have a second generation magic mouse with lightning. No need to restart.

Glad to know i wasn't the only one questioning this! Each time my iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2019) goes to sleep, the scroll and gestures don't work on my magic mouse. i have to disconnect the mouse each time. hopes this gets solved in the next update !

I found that turning off the switch on the bottom of my mouse then turning it back on reconnected the scroll function. Not sure why but it's a simple fix till Apple sends out an update.

Same here, it happens after sleep, Macbook Pro 15in 2017, MacOS 12.0.1

I have this problem too, and my mouse often freezes and can’t move normally.......

Same issue here. MBP M1 12.0.1 with MM2.

Same problem. Magic Mouse scroll stops working.

MacBook Pro M1 Monterey 12.0.1

Driving me crazy ...

Requires restart on MB Pro - the "we are aware of the problem" needs to be accompanied by a time estimate for when the problem will be addressed.

Can confirm; mouse restart fixes.

Same here, I have a M1 MBA with the same issue with Apple Magic Mouse 2. If I power off the mouse and power it back on it appears to fix it for me. Not a great solution, but better than a reboot of the MBA.

SAME Issue on the brand new MBPro16. Stops scrolling...

I have the same problem w/ M1 MacBook Air.

Following the advice on this Reddit thread https://www.reddit.com/r/logitech/comments/qhk83k/mx_master_3_not_working_after_monterey_update_on/

I installed Logitech options+ and that fixed my problem. https://www.logitech.com/en-us/software/logi-options-plus.html#join-beta

I granted the + app all the permissions that it asked for (2 of them) and did not have to reset my 2021 MBP 14'', scroll wheel started working immediately. I'm using a Logitech M275 mouse connected via a usb dongle.

Similar issue on MacBook Air M1 2020. All my trackpad multi-touch gestures stopped working yesterday. Apple Support recommended reinstalling OS.

Same issue here, monterey for about 2-3weeks in my Mid2017 Imac Retina.... such annoying a few times per days X per fews days at work.... I hope apple will get an update fix for that...

The same problem with microsoft sculpt comfort mouse, I turn off the mouse, change the USB port and nothing seems to work. Restart the app sometimes works or restart all mac. I hope apple will get an update fix for that

Apple Magic Mouse also facing the same problem

same issue with me when I upgraded my M1 MBA to Monterey. Disconnecting/reconnecting magic mouse from Bluetooth works for me which is still annoying lol

Yes same problem, need to re-connect to make it work again. annoying ! But also my external screen connect to the usb-c port (including power delivery to the mac) is only showing the mouse-pointer on a black screen. No picture! Need to re-connect to make it work again. also reboot does resolve this problem. It seems the drivers are not reloaded after waking up from sleep and only the default function will work from the drivers.

Apple Please fix this!

Same problem here. I turned my Magic Mouse off and on again and the problem is fixed... until it comes back again.

Same problem with MacBook Pro Mid 2015 (15 inch). It all started when I upgraded to macOS Monterey. Only when the mouse is turned off & on again (and connected to Bluetooth) the scrolling works once more (till laptop goes to sleepmode).

Same issue with MacBook Air M1 since Monterey update. But the turn on/turn off trick works for me.

Same issue here and my keyboard doesn't light up when caps lock is on

MBP 16" M1 Pro. Running Magic Mouse and Magic Keyboard with Touch ID. Sometimes when I wake from sleep the mouse scroll doesn't work and the caps lock light doesn't come on (just discovered the caps lock issue, thanks @LettieA). Power cycling each fixes the issues.
