Scammed by fake Netgear support site - Scammer ran $TMPDIR on my terminal - Is this good, bad or negligible??

Hi,

My speed test for the last couple of days was bleak. Today at one point it came in at .2 mbps!

Comcast told me I might want to check my router. Nighthawk (modem/router combined.)

I contacted "Netgear's" help site. I didn't realize it wasn't an official Netgear support site.

Unfortunately, I can't find the site now.

The Zendesk chat manager told me she could have a tech call me back. I left my cell number.

He called back and accessed my computer via a https://www.realvnc.help/ download.

He had me change my Netgear Passwords: http://192.168.0.1/PwdRec_index.htm Not sure of the order of things, but he accessed my terminal, and from what I can tell from the header, ran % open $TMPDIR.

I have all the data from the terminal saved. Whatever he did, appeared to increase my internet speed.

Then he pitched me: In Textedit he typed:

•Install network Tools. •Clean Up. •Assign Ip. •Setup Router. •30 Min. •One time Fix 99.99

I politely declined.

The phone number he called from was: 1-323-765-0747. Which shows as a scam number.

I changed the Netgear Passwords after the call.

Is there anything else I should do?

Thank you!

hhh weird
