Fitness and Health app don't work after restoring iPhone from backup

Hi! So after the public beta for iOS 16 rolled out I updated my phone because I wanted to try out some of its new features. Sadly, my banking app didn't like the new beta and I had to wait 5-10 minutes just to check my balance. Because of that I decided to restore my phone from an encrypted backup which I created earlier. Ever since then, the Fitness app won't load. I also have an Apple Watch series 4 but the Fitness app works perfectly on it. It just doesn't work on my phone. Also, I have the same problem with the Health app. I can open the app, but it doesn't show any data. And I don't understand this, because I created an encrypted backup because I didn't want to lose any of my Health data. And not only that I can't see my old data, my phone won't create any new data as well. For example, I have the sleep monitoring feature turned on, but the app won't create the data for it, so I have no sleeping data. I tried to force close the apps and restart them, and I also restarted my phone several times, but it hasn't changed anything. I attached two screenshots about my problems.

Thank you for the answers in advance!

(I tried posting this here as well, but my post got removed because the text contained the word "beta" in it.)

I updated to the public release (9/12/2022) of iOS 16 and it fixed the issue.

My theory is that after downgrading from the beta of iOS 16 the Fitness and Health apps also updated and retained data which was from a newer OS (ios 16) and after downgrading and restoring backup it would have caused the issues.

So if you have an iPhone 8 or later (mine is a 12 Pro) just upgrade to the full iOS 16 and problem is solved. (15.7 did not solve the issue).

I have exactly the same problem after going back from iOS 16 beta to iOS 15.6 and restoring my backup yesterday. Neighter Health nor Fitness app are working. Have you found a solution after 3 weeks?

Hi. I have the EXACT same issues. I have an iPhone 12 Pro, I upgraded to IOS 16 Beta but had issues with banking app. I went back to IOS 15.6.1 but Fitness on the iPhone just gives a black screen with the spinning gear and Health cannot show my data. Also when I try and enter health details on the Watch App and click Done it does NOT save.

Yeah, I just wanted to tell you about this. I updated to the public release of iOS 16 as well, and it solved the problem. Fitness and Health is working completely fine now.

Hi. Hopefully you have figured it out by now but I just had a similar problem and I was able to fix it. I downgraded last night from iOS 16.2 to iOS 16.1.1. Everything was good except for health and fitness. Luckily I was able to fix it.

What I did was turn off “Sync This iPhone” under Health iCloud settings. Then I proceeded to click “delete from device”. The old health data is still in the cloud. Now go into the health app and you will see everything start to repopulate. After that you can go into the settings app and re-enable the health setting for “Sync This iPhone”. This worked for me so I hope it does for you too!
