Seeking Guidance on App Rejection due to In-App Purchase Limitations

Hello fellow developers,

I'm facing a dilemma with Apple's review process and could really use some advice. My app keeps getting rejected because I haven't implemented Apple's in-app purchase (IAP) mechanism. I've tried explaining to them the reason behind this decision, but it seems like my concerns are falling on deaf ears. Let me provide you with some context.

The issue I'm facing is that the price points supported by Apple's IAP system are simply too low for my app. Some of the purchases I offer go beyond the maximum price threshold of $1000. Let me illustrate this challenge with a hypothetical example that captures the essence of my app's unique features without giving away the exact idea.

Consider an app called "Art Gallery Showcase." This app allows users to purchase exclusive exhibition spaces to showcase their artwork in prestigious physical galleries. These spaces are highly sought after and come with significant costs associated with renting the gallery, curating the exhibition, and promoting the artist's work. As you can imagine, the prices for these premium exhibition spaces can exceed the limitations of Apple's IAP system.

Despite my efforts to convey this information to the Apple Developer team, it seems that the focus on in-app purchases has hindered their understanding of the specific challenges my app faces. I feel like they're closing their eyes and ears to any alternative payment methods, making it difficult for me to move forward.

I'm reaching out to the developer community in hopes of finding guidance or advice on how to handle this situation. Has anyone encountered a similar issue and successfully resolved it? I would greatly appreciate any insights, suggestions, or experiences you can share.

I understand the importance of Apple's guidelines and regulations, and I'm committed to finding a solution that aligns with their requirements while still accommodating the unique nature of my app's offerings.

Thank you in advance for your support and assistance.

No, that’s not your problem because:

This app allows users to purchase exclusive exhibition spaces to showcase their artwork in prestigious physical galleries.

That sounds to me like the product is delivered outside the app, so it’s not something you can use IAP for.

Your problem is that App Review have failed to understand what your app is doing. (Assuming of course that what your real app does is very similar to this art gallery example.)

There’s not much you can do about this except appeal the rejection and explain the issue in very simple terms. Have you confused the appeal by saying that the price points are not high enough, as you have in this post?

PS why is this an app rather than a website?

PS2 IAP prices up to $10,000 are supposed to be available “on request”.

Are you sayiing that prices up to $10,000 could be made available "on request" for in-app purchases if i ask apple to grant me access to that price point.

Yes.
