"Too many redirects" on forum

I've seen it quite often in the past. It appears randomly, persists for a random amount of time, then goes away randomly. I've just had to wait and try again later whenever it occurs.

This is a known issue (i. 96094286). I don’t yet have all the details but I can share some background.

Recently we’ve added a redirect from forums.developer.apple.com to developer.apple.com. This is a good thing, because having two URLs for the same resource was causing all sorts of weird issues.

However, this change seems to have triggered this issue. Until today I wasn’t sure whether it was just affecting Apple folk. This thread confirms that it affects external folks too. That’s a useful data point.

Is there a way [in Safari] to see the actual redirect loop URLs?

No. That’s not the first time I’ve bumped into that limitation, so I filed a bug against Safari about it (r. 144077015).

It is possible to see redirect loops in Chrome. If you’re a regular Chrome user and you see this problem, please save an HTTP archive, file a bug with that archive, and then post your bug here.

We believe we’ve made some progress on this. Speaking personally, I did not see the problem during my morning forums pass, whereas previously I might’ve seen it two to three times. Yay!
