Once an app installed from TestFlight expires, it is no longer considered valid, and cannot be launched or be used in any manner.
You should assume that no app functionality is expected to work after that, and if you find an edge case where something (like notifications) is working past expiration, you can assume this is an artifact and will soon stop working.
You should have no expectations that an expired app installed from TestFlight should have any meaningful functionality after that point.
