The command line interface for diskutil is missing the snapshot features there is now no way to take a custom snapshot of a volume and mount it. tmutil doesn’t not allow the flexibility of diskutil when doing research. Please restore this functionality. feedback id: FB19590860

The command line interface for diskutil is missing the snapshot features there is now no way to take a custom snapshot of a volume and mount it.

The file system's team consider snapshots a special purpose feature our APFS that should only be used for very specific use cases (notably, the system's boot architecture and system wide backups). I've made sure your bug was routed to the correct team, but I don't expect diskutil to include this functionality.
