Resources to assist translating Objective-C to Swift?

What resources can assist translating Objective-C to Swift? Perhaps best practices or patterns?

Can a coding agent automate translating Objective-C to Swift?

I’ll be interested to hear what other folks have to say about this. About all I can say definitively [1] is that Apple doesn’t have any tools for it.

I’ve seen reports online of folks have great success using GenAI tools to help with this task, but I don’t have any personal experience I can share. However, if you search the ’net for terms like GenUI objective-c to swift you’ll find lots of hits.

[1] Actually, maybe not definitively, because I haven’t yet had a chance to get up to speed on all the stuff we announced yesterday O-:

Swiftify was a pretty great tool a few years ago ( I used it to help convert a project way back when Swift 4 was the latest and greatest), though these days I'd probably try my hand with claude code.

You don’t need to rewrite the whole app at once. Xcode supports Swift and Objective-C in the same app target, so a practical approach is to move one class or module at a time and keep the rest working through the bridging header. Apple’s migration guide walks through that process.

A coding agent can help with the mechanical first pass, but I’d review each change, build, and run the existing tests before moving on. Objective-C nullability, memory ownership, and APIs that don’t map directly to Swift can need hand fixes.
