iPhone not charging via cable, only Magsafe

The iPhone randomly stopped drawing any power from the power brick, happened yesterday after a walk. Came home, plugged it in and over an hour instead of charging the phones battery percentage decreased to 20% from 30%. I was no where near any liquids that could have possibly damaged the port. Currently, in a country that doesn't have any official apple stores/repair centers, however, went to some local ones. They say that the problem is with the IC block and ask me to pay $200 for it. Quiet hesitant to do so, frankly speaking.

Did anyone experience this before or have any suggestions? Thanks!

As you can charge with Magsafe, you're safe.

In such a case, I would not pay $200 for a repair that will probably not solve anything.

Did the problem occur just after installing 27.3ß ?

If so, you could:

  • return to a stable iOS
  • wait for the next release of iOS

Then you'll see if it's a hardware issue.

Of course, you should file a bug report.

This may seem obvious, but I have to ask. Have you tried rebooting the device? Or powering the device off completely, then plugging it in to USB to see if it detects the plug-in and powers up?

I've actually had this happen a few different times over the years on early beta releases, and it's always been fixed by power cycling the device. I looked into it at once a few years ago, and the problem was caused by one of our power management daemons crashing and then being unable to relaunch properly, which was sorted by resetting the system.

I did restart it multiple times, when completely turned off it doesn't draw any power as well.

Do you suggest downgrading to a stable version of IOS 26?
