iPhone 16 Pro failing to install new Siri Beta

Being stuck on "Adding support for Siri is in progress" with the old Siri globe usually indicates that the background download for the on-device AI assets has stalled?

Can you provide screenshots and errors you are receiving? Please keep them save as I think we going to move fast to file a bug for iOS 27 beta 4 in this case.

If your iPhone is running low on space. What’s the free space you have in the device? Do you have a sysdiagnose to check the error in case is storage?

Ensure your iPhone is connected to a strong Wi-Fi network, turn off Low Power Mode if it's on, and plug the device into a charger. Leave it locked and charging for an hour or so?

phone has been left plugged in asleep overnight attached to a very decent WiFi broadband. I must admit, low power mode is turned on… but not actually “active“ if that makes sense.

@nitram1872 Thanks for the details, I do not see anything that will cause the issue. Maybe we need to go deep in the sysdiagnose to get the reason of the issue. May I ask you to file a bug and attach the sysdiagnose?

I have given feedback via the iOS feedback app, since I first installed the 2nd Developer beta and found Siri didn’t install. The bug report name and ID number are:

FB23424437 (The new Siri is the old pre-Apple Intelligence version?)

I am, right now, uploading a fresh sysdiagnose file into that specific feedback thread.

So I see the 2nd Public Beta came out today… obviously that’s no step up from last week’s Dev Beta… so I guess I’ll simply just cross my fingers for next Monday?

The Siri update has been stuck for a long time, even though I’m connected to Wi-Fi. I’m having the same issue.

Thanks for the post. May I ask what beta are you using?

Settings → General → About → and check the Software Version, it'll show something like iOS 27.0 Beta 4.

Then check on Settings → General → Software Update. If a newer iOS 27 beta is available, install it first, you can also go to the developer.apple.com website to download the latest.

Its have ios 27 Beta . The update is installing very slowly and has only reached 84%.

Hoping the next Dev Beta is this Monday and that it shifts something. I dunno if I install it while I’m still in this limbo of Siri AI Beta, or whether I turn Siri off and do the install while running the “working” Apple Intelligence version. (Shrugs emoji)

Well, Dev Beta 5 hasn’t turned up as of yet. Dunno if that now means waiting till next Monday or quite what.

I'm tempted to (again) to turn Siri off and on again… to get use of the Apple Intelligence version of Siri if nothing else.

About to try V5… fingers crossed.

I'm having the same issue on iPhone 15 Pro Max, from iOS27 beta 1 through 5. It's been weeks and my phone has been connected to Wi-Fi, has plenty of storage space, and the system and Siri languages match. The same configuration works on my iPad.

I tried turning Siri off and on, reverting to old Siri and back to the beta, restarting my device and updating iOS.

It just says 'Adding support for Siri is in progress'.

I don't have the new Siri app and typing 'siri://' in Safari tells me to download it from the App Store, where it's not available.

I submitted a report in the Feedback app during the previous beta.

Hiya. I have installed iOS 27 Dev 5 on the 16 Pro. It’s been 24hrs since the version 5 install. I am still intentionally on the old Apple Intelligence version of Siri because it says in settings that it’s “optimising search and Siri” and I’d prefer to wait until that’s done, before opting back into the new Siri AI beta.

thus, right now, I don’t know whether the new Siri will or won’t install this time… Yet.

Optimising has disappeared off of settings… so I clicked on the link to try out the new Beta Siri.

I'm back to the message about “Adding support for Siri…” etc.

I have waited over 48hrs since clicking on the text link to try out the new version of Siri. The “adding support for Siri…” message remains and I’m still on the OLD old Siri.

I have updated feedback with a today with a fresh sysdiagnose.

3 days later. Phone still in the same state. Siri settings page has same message and the backup Siri is still the OLD old version. So I’m guessing the download/install of the NEW Siri isn’t going anywhere. Semi crossing fingers that the release schedule might now be weekly and possibly a further beta update today maybe.

I have the exact same issue on my 11” iPad Air M2.

After updating to iPadOS 27.0 developer beta 5 a week ago, Siri reverted to the classic version (not the iOS 18 Apple Intelligence one, but the one before THAT, as I believe you’ve described in your last few replies @nitram1872). And it shows the same “Adding support for Siri is in progress. Siri will be unavailable until the update is complete.” message for me too.

My iPad has 60+ GB of free storage and it’s been constantly connected to Wi-Fi. I’ve never let the battery run out (and so it has also had many charging sessions). But still, it’s stuck on this “Siri AI support” download or whatever it is.

It might be important to mention that I had stalled on the beta updates since developer beta 2. So I upgraded from beta 2 to 5. But Siri AI was working just fine on beta 1 and 2. Not on 5.

It’s probably also important to mention that my M1 iMac (on the same Apple account, connected to the same Wi-Fi network), finished adding support just 2-3 days after updating it to macOS 27.0 developer beta 5, and Siri AI works perfectly fine on the Mac. I updated both my iPad and my Mac to iPadOS 27.0 and macOS 27.0 dev beta 5 on the same day. (Before that, I was also stalling on updating my Mac, I believe it was on dev beta 1 or 2, not exactly sure.)

Downloading Beta 6. Lets give that a whirl.

Sadly, right now, roughly 15 hours into the newest Beta, the phone’s front-end is looking identical, but I do appreciate it’s not been 24hrs yet. Letting the optimising run it’s course. I’ve sent fresh diagnostic file to the same feedback ticket I opened several versions ago.

Problems with Siri started appearing after the update to iOS 27 beta. If you enable the second version of Siri, an endless message appears: “adding support for SITI is in progress.” If you switch Siri to Beta mode, the message “Apple intelligence assets need to finish downloading” appears. At the same time, only the first version of Siri works. Search recommendations also work incorrectly: apps are recommended randomly. The language and region are set to English, there is more than 20 GB of free space, and there is high‑speed Wi‑Fi. I tried resetting the network settings, but it didn’t help.

At the same time, everything works perfectly on my iPad with the same firmware version as on the phone. Another important addition: the Siri and Playground apps do not appear on the iPhone.

4 days later. Same situation. Pondering if Monday will be another update or not. Dunno if it’s best to stay on the stalled new version or to revert back to Apple Intelligence and the try and switch up again after next beta
