2+ weeks to get a developer account... Normal?

I guess this is mostly a rant but here's my experience as a first time Apple developer.

I signed up for Apple developer over two weeks ago on the Apple Developer website, placed a purchase with my company credit card. My account stayed in "pending" for over a week and since nothing seemed to happen, I contacted Apple Support by email. They replied a few days later saying I had to use the Apple Developer app... I go to the Apple Developer app and begin the KYC process. I get this error message:

"Your identity couldn't be verified because the ID you submitted isn't accepted for your region or doesn't match the document type you selected. Please try again."

My document is a Canadian passport but my business is in the US...

I contact Apple support again about 3 days ago. Still waiting for a reply.

Wish me luck guys.

Good news: Support finally replied me to say they updated my setting.

Bad news: Still getting the same error message :)

I signed up again via Apple Developer website. Submitted all the KYC documents (passport picture, business documents, etc.) and a few days later, got an email from Apple saying:

"Your enrollment request has been accepted. To complete your organization's enrollment in the Apple Developer Program, please sign in to your developer account to review and accept the Apple Developer Program License Agreement, and complete your membership purchase."

I login, accept the license agreement and, when it's time to pay for the membership my card, gets declined. I tried 4 debit cards and 1 credit card. All from American banks (Bank of America, Paypal Card, Mercury Card) and I entered all billing information matching correctly.

The banks tell me they didn't decline any transaction.

So I call the support number on the checkout page... I get transferred 5 different times (even got transferred to Goldman Sachs once cause they thought I was using an Apple card I guess?) and repeat my story each time and they keep transferring me to different lines. The last guy told me that since this was a developer program issue, he couldn't help with that.

I emailed developer support again. My prediction is they will send me another canned email saying to use the Developer App (which doesn't work).

Wish me luck guys, I won't give up that easily.

New error message:

A request to your bank for the funds necessary to ship this order was declined.

Please contact your card's issuing bank via the phone number on the back of your card to ask about the decline.

Bank says it's not them... lol

My document is a Canadian passport but my business is in the US...

I see many people posting reports of problems with this kind of setup. Unfortunately, most of them are reporting a problem from a later stage - filling out tax forms.

Why don't you just enrol as a Canadian? Or as a Canadian business?

I have a similar case, I already made the payment more than 2 days ago and uploaded my document, I received an email that they will review and respond to but I registered by entering my name incorrectly, I sent a support ticket and in the notes when I attached my document I explained it to them but I still haven't received any response. Is it normal?

Is it normal?

Yes. It's completely normal. If you make an error, or even if you haven't made an error, anytime you need human intervention, you're in for a world of pain and possibly months of delays.

Realistically, your best hope is for them to just reject your application in a few weeks. Then you can try again with the correct information.

But don't put any hope in support tickets. There are ten pages of post listings here in the forum. That constitutes about 1 day's worth of activity, 200 posts. Every single post is saying they open multiple support tickets. So you're going to be waiting behind all of those people.

You can certainly try support requests. Just don't get frustrated and upset when nothing happens. The best option is always the automated flow. In your case, the automated rejection and resubmission flow might be the fastest option.
