Hello so i have been trying to download ios 27 simulator images in xcode but whenever i try to download it, it forever gets stuck in the state of preparing to download and never downloads it even after waiting for 2-3 hours,
Can somebody please help me figure it out, i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling xcode but the issue isn't resolved please if someone has solution to this problem do share here!!

Since reinstalling Xcode did not change it, I would check the download path before reinstalling again. Make sure you have plenty of free disk space, try another network without a VPN or proxy, then restart the Mac and retry from Xcode Settings > Components. Check Apple System Status for Developer services too. If it still stays on Preparing, share your macOS version, exact Xcode build, free space, and whether other component downloads work. That can help separate a network or service issue from a stuck component.

For context i have my xcode installed on an external ssd and when i unistalled it and installed it on mac ( not external ssd) and tried again it didn't work so then again i moved my app to external ssd. and i also tried to download other componenets and unfortunately those are also stuck in prepering loop and never get downloaded, i tried to download it using a vpn connection but it didn't work, so i will share all the details u asked for below
My macos version is 26.6.1
Xcode version is 27.1
i have around 90 gb's of freespace on mac's ssd and around 200-300gb free space on exernal ssd ( on which xcode is installed)
let me know if u need any more info
