Accessing LiDAR Depth Data and Scene Reconstruction on Apple Vision Pro
Hello, I'm developing a visionOS application for Apple Vision Pro that aims to scan unknown physical objects, capture their 3D data (such as meshes or point clouds), and export them as 3D models. Ideally, I'd also like to visualize these reconstructions in real-time within the headset. This functionality is similar to what's available in Reality Composer on iPad and iPhone, but I'm seeking to implement it natively on Vision Pro. I've reviewed the visionOS documentation but haven't found clear guidance on accessing LiDAR depth data or performing scene reconstruction. Specifically, I'm interested in: 1.Accessing LiDAR or depth data from Vision Pro's sensors. 2.Utilizing ARKit's scene reconstruction capabilities on visionOS. 3.Exporting captured 3D data as models (e.g., USDZ or OBJ formats). Are there APIs or frameworks in visionOS that support these features?

AR sessions fails with "Required sensor failed"
The AR based app I am working on right now is experiencing an issue. Sometimes, the AR session fails with a call to my ARSessionObserver's session(_ session: ARSession, didFailWithError error: Error) with the following error: Error Domain=com.apple.arkit.error Code=102 "Required sensor failed." NSLocalizedFailureReason="A sensor failed to deliver the required input.," NSLocalizedRecoverySuggestion="Make sure that the application has the required privacy settings." The underlying error seems to point to the CoreMotion framework: Domain=CMErrorDomain Code=102 "(null) Some people seem to have experienced this issue and solved it by making sure that the Compass Calibration switch is ON in Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services. For context, the ARWorldTrackingConfiguration.worldAlignment is set to .gravity The thing is it is already ON when I experience this issue. I also noticed that this issue happens way more often on the iPhone 16e than in any other device. Has anyone had similar experiences? I am looking for a way to prevent this error from happening (ideally) or handling in a way that does not affect the user. Any help is appreciated

The participantIdentifier of Shared Coordinate Space invalid in Visionos26 Enterprise api
Visionos26 Enterprise api has the new feature: Shared Coordinate Space, participants exchange their coordinate data by SharedCoordinateSpaceProvider through their own network, when shared coordinate space established with nearby participants, the event: connectedParticipantIdentifiers(participants: [UUID]) will be received. But the Event.participantIdentifier still be an invalid default value(00000000-0000-0000-FFFF-FFFFFFFF) in this time, I wonder when or how I can get a valid event.participantIdentifier, or is there some other way to get the local participantIdentifier? Or If it's a bug, please fix it in later beta release version, thank you.

VisionOS 2 - Passthrough in screen capture
I'm trying to develop an app that broadcasts what the user sees (priorly we were using main camera access) but now we'd like to investigate and try with this option. I have set up the BroadcastExtension, I've added the picker, I click on my button, I can see my broadcast extension in the options list in the control center, once I click start, it stops after 1 second more or less. I'm not able to get anything in the console from my Sample Handler (prints or logs or anything). I can see however in the console.app some misleading information (one after the other): [INFO] -[RPRecordingManager getSystemBroadcastExtensionInfo:]_block_invoke:1333 Extension has passthrough license [INFO] -[RPRecordingManager getSystemBroadcastExtensionInfo:]_block_invoke:1336 Extension does not have passthrough license We have the entreprise license, the capability and I did add the capability on the extension target as well.

Real Time Spatial Video Streaming with Vision Pro
Hello, I am trying to build an AVP app for real-time "zero-latency" spatial video streaming. I am trying to figure out, on a high level, the best way to do this. Currently this is my method: Server sends stereo images via a WebRTC service (ie, livekit) The WebRTC stream is converted to a CVPixelBuffer, writes them to file, plays via AVPlayer, and applies a VideoMaterial to a plane entity. However, this is a bit hacky and it seems like this won't be compatible with Apple's spatial experinces. To my understanding, Apple supports HLS streaming for spatial experiences and APMP content. However, HLS (and even Low Latency HLS) introduces a second or more of latency, likely do to the segmentation nature of HLS. Thus, HLS will not work for us. Some other alternatives I've thought of are streaming the live stream video via webrtc from the server to a local computer in the AVP's network, and then using LL-HLS to stream from the local computer to the vision pro. Still, it seems like this would introduce latency on the order of seconds. Is my current approach the best way to implement this? Or could anyone suggest a better way, perhaps something compatible with AVP's spatial experiences

new algorithm significantly improves PhotogrammetrySession?
I noticed in the latest macOS beta 3 that there was this update: A new algorithm significantly improves PhotogrammetrySession reconstruction quality of low-texture objects not captured with the ObjectCaptureSession front end. It will be downloaded and cached once in the background when the PhotogrammetrySession is used at runtime. If network isn’t available at that time, the old low quality model will be used until the new one can be downloaded. There is no code change needed to get this improved model. (145220451) I am not noticing any difference to before with the reconstructions I tested so I am assuming it's reverting to the old model but in the logs there is no way to see if it succeeds or fails to download that new model. do you have any more information on what was improved here with some examples and what we should be looking for? also how can confirm the download of that new model has not failed?

.usdz files not loading in iOS app
Hello everyone, I'm a new developer and I'm still learning the foundations of Swift and SwiftUI while building my first app. Today I wanted to ask you how to implement AR Quixck Views inside my app. I wanna be able to dynamically preview AR objects in a dedicated view, however, I don't seem to have understood where and how to locate AR objects inside my project. I tried including them in the Assets folder of the project, or in the Recources folder, or within the main folder of my project alongside the MyAppApp.swift file. None of the methods I used seemed have worked in that none of the objects was ever located. I made sure to specify the path to the files every time, but somehow the location isn't recognized. I also tried giving no path so that the app would search for the files in their default location (which I apparently haven't grasped yet), but still my attempt failed. I don't have the code sample on me at the moment, but I will write a followup comment on this post to show you what I wrote in case anyone was interested in debugging my code. Meanwhile, if anyone would be so kind to point me at the support article or to comment below the sample code they used in their app, I would very much appreciate it, so that I can start debugging. Occlusion issues in Immersive Space - Breaking User Input Interaction
I'm developing a custom gesture-based visionOS project that uses hand tracking with collision detection spheres on fingers to register user interactions through collision components. I'm experiencing a critical occlusion issue where collision detection spheres are intermittently occluded by the background/depth buffer, causing fingers to pass through the 3D model entities without registering interactions. Detailed Description: I have added 3D entities in an immersive scene with collision spheres attached to fingers for detecting user interactions. Each sphere has: CollisionComponent with sphere shape Proper collision masks and groups configured Real-time position updates from hand joint transforms Each entity has: InputTarget components to register collisions The Issue: When users move their fingers to the entity to interact, some collision spheres (particularly on the pinkie and ring fingers) become occluded and pass directly through the 3D model without triggering collision events. Meanwhile, other fingers (like the index finger) continue to work correctly. This appears to be a depth perception/z-buffer issue between the model entity and the hand tracking collision spheres Questions: Is there a recommended approach for maintaining consistent depth ordering between hand-tracking entities and 3D models in immersive spaces to prevent occlusion issues? Should I be using AnchorEntities to anchor the entity to a plane or world position to establish a more stable depth reference? Are there specific RenderingComponent or material settings that could help ensure collision entities maintain their depth priority and don't get occluded? Could this be related to z-fighting when collision spheres and entity geometry occupy similar depth ranges? If so, what's the recommended depth bias approach? Is there a better architectural approach for implementing interactions with custom hand gesture tracking that avoids these depth perception issues? What Would Help: Implementation guidance for ensuring reliable collision detection between hand-tracked entities through custom gestures and 3D models. Best practices for depth management in immersive spaces with custom hand gesture tracking. Sample code demonstrating stable hand-to-object interaction patterns. Information about whether this is a known limitation or if there are specific APIs I should be leveraging This issue is significantly impacting the reliability of our app experience, as users cannot consistently interact with all model components. Any guidance from Apple engineers or developers who have solved similar depth/occlusion challenges would be greatly appreciated. Custom Material half visible..?
I'm currently implementing 180° / 360° immersive video for my app. I easily implemented 360° by just applying VideoMaterial to flipped sphere. But I'm stuck at 180°. I'm trying to implement by applying VideoMaterial to hemisphere (half sphere). I want to make VideoMaterial to be visible half front sphere and half back sphere transparent / clear. Would there be any advice / information / idea to implement this? Your help would be grateful.

Material showing only half?
Hi, I'm currently implementing 180° / 360° property for immersive video in my app. I was able to implement 360° easily by just giving VideoMaterial to flipped sphere. However, I'm bit stuck at 180°. I want to implement by setting VideoMaterial to hemisphere mesh. But since RealityKit doesn't provide default function such like MeshResource.generateHemisphere yet, I just want to apply VideoMaterial half front visible, and half back transparent. I thought this would make my sphere looks like hemisphere. But I can't find my way to implement this method.. I would appreciate any advice / idea / information that might help.

[Rnedering] Always display a Window in front of any Entity in a mixedImmersiveView?
Currently I am using mixed style immersive view to place both my WindowView(plain style) and ImmersiveView content together. The issue is that the rendering depth testing may always let the virtual content block my normal WindowView. Is it possible to manually set windowedVIew always displays in the front of my virtual view in mixed style immersion? (I know modelSortGroup but it doesn't quite fits here) Or if I can dynamically change the .progressive value when the immersive space is open (set the value to zero means .mixed itself right?)

mipmapsMode trade-off?
I am building a 360 photo viewer in VisionOS 26. Which allows the user to choose a 2 by 1 jpg and then renders it with a sphere mesh entity. And I use: TextureResource(contentsOf: url, options: options). I noticed two situations here in terms of mipmaps options. When setting "mipmapsMode: .none": The graphic quality within the "gaze area" looks sharp and clear The two poles (top and bottom) are perfectly rendered Massive shimmer around the "gaze area" When setting "mipmapsMode: .allocateAndGenerateAll": The graphic looks slightly blurrier than in ".none" within the "gaze area" The two poles are very blurry and hard to recognize the texture Much less shimmer around the "gaze area" My question would be: Is there a way to have the perfect graphic quality in ".none" without the massive shimmer? Entity jittering when using hand anchor
Hello! I'm a developer of Ping Pong for Apple Vision Pro (Ping Pong Club). I'm experiencing an issues with collisions between ball and paddle. Sometimes the ball just unexpectedly flying away like it has been hit to hard. I believe this is happening because hand anchors are jittering (ping pong paddle has hand anchor component) and at the time of collision unnecessary micro motion produced. ARKit with 422 pixel format and Apple Log colorspace
Hi, I’m trying to configure camera feed in ARKit to be in Apple Log color space. I can change Capture Device’s format to one that has Apple Log and I see one frame being in proper log-gray colors but then all AR tracking stops and tracking state hangs at “initializing”. In other combinations I see error “sensor failed to initialize” and session restarts with default format. I suspect that this is because normal AR capture formats are 420f, whereas ones that have Apple Log are 422. Could someone confirm if it’s even possible to run ARKit session with camera feed in a different pixel format? I’m trying it on iphone 15 pro

Hand Tracking Latency When UITextView Becomes Active in Vision Pro Immersive Space
I'm placing sphere at finger tip and updating its position as hand move. Finger joint tracking functions correctly, but I’ve observed noticeable latency in hand tracking updates whenever a UITextView becomes active. This lag happens intermittently during app usage, lasting about 5–10 seconds, after which the latency disappears and the sphere starts following the finger joints immediately. When I open the immersive space for the first time, the profiler shows a large performance spike upto 328%. After that, it stabilizes and runs smoothly. Note: I don’t observe any lag when CPU usage spikes to 300% (upon immersive view load) yet the lag still occurs even when CPU usage remains below 100%. RoomPlan CaptureError.exceedSceneSizeLimit on iOS devices
When scanning multiple rooms (10+) in a single structure using ARWorldMap for coordinate space consistency, RoomCaptureSession throws CaptureError.exceedSceneSizeLimit. The instructions here (https://developer.apple.com/documentation/roomplan/scanning-the-rooms-of-a-single-structure) provide exactly what I am doing to keep the underlying ARSession alive (by calling captureSession.stop(pause: false)) and save the results before a user moves to the next room. Scanning 11 or so rooms will cause the user to hit the exceedSceneSizeLimit error. The ARWorldMap is about 58 MB and always is around this size when hitting this issue. No anchors are present and all the data seems to be from tracking data. On iPad devices (where I do not see this issue) the ARWorldMap grows as a significantly slower rate in size. I save the ARWorldMap after each room is scanned and confirmed by the user. If I use the ARMap to initialize the ARSession (as described in the docs) the session will immediately error with "exceedSceneSizeLimit" once the captureSession.run() is executed. Occasionally it will allow me/the user to scan again, but either breaks mid scan or the following. This has been working fine for the past 2 years and users have been able to scan dozens of rooms without issue. It seems only lately that it has been a problem. I would expect the ARWorldMap to be allowed for much bigger sizes. At this point I can just about scan more area of my house with a single scan than I can when I use different captureSessions. Few observations: This happens on my iPhone 15 Pro Max, my iPhone 17 Pro, but not my iPad M4 (maybe memory related?). It is possible if scanning many more rooms it would happen on the iPad too. I have tried things such as resetting the ARConfig on the underlying ARSession to reset some, but this doesn't work. I have tried to create a new ARWorldMap and move the origin to the older map to clear out tracking data. This almost works but causes a mess of issues when a user moves at all due to the unshared coordinate space. I believe there are three active issues regarding this: FB14454922, FB15035788, FB20642944 Could we get an update for this issue? It is a production issue and severely limits my user experience in my production application.
