Hey man i had the same problem multiple times, i have the latest iphone the only solution that worked was to factory reset my airpods and just reconnect them to my iphone . To factory reset , put back the airpods at the case go to your phone and press forget device then open the case and double tap 3 times until you see amber flashing then close the case and reopen it to activate the connecting process and connect to your iphone
