Exporting the video is a bit tricky, could not export HEVC video with the alpha channel on HandBrake no matter what I tried.. (at the bottom of the app window now). Then enable the alpha channel in the advanced settings

Sadly, the clean install WILL NOT fix this... I have just heard a distortion the other day... And now someone with 64GB model says that they get this as well without reaching the orange zone. So it's not RAM related. We just have to wait for the fix I am afraid...

Sigh... Yup, after three weeks I was able to hear the dreaded cracking noise once again... It only happened once. So I am sorry, I am taking it back. Clean install WILL NOT fix this. For me, it just kept the ram usage very low and I rarely (if ever) reached the orange zone, thus no distortions were produced. Although just after the reinstall I tried loading the ram to reach the orange zone and did not get any distortions. So high RAM load might be just a coincidence and not an actual indicator.

Base spec 16 inch (16gb, 512 ssd). Still no issues, so I consider this issue resolved for me. Before the reset I have tried all fixes mentioned here (and elsewhere) with no luck

One week later, still no issues. Starting to believe that resetting solved my distortions!

Yup, can confirm. Boom software does NOT fix the issue... :(

This might be the fix! Just installed Boom2 (had it purchased a long time ago for my iMac) and after opening a bunch of heavy apps and pushing RAM to the limit I have no cracks at all! When previously the distortions would appear as soon as the Memory pressure reached amber color. This looks promising. Will report back in a few days Thanks, Saajz

Yes. I think that this is memory pressure related too, because I was definitely able to get rid of the pops just by closing all the memory-heavy apps. Just probably not as straightforward as "no pops in the green, and pops in the yellow".

I take it back. I had the distortions even when the memory pressure was in the green :( Sad to hear that reset did not fix this...

Yeah. This does nothing. Rebooting is what fixes it. For a few days. Then it is back. So at the moment, rebooting the device is the only "fix" that reliably works (for some amount of time)
