Well if this was a planned change then it also has broken beginSeekingForward and beginSeekingBackward methods as they internally use playbackRate to seek.

The bug was actually fixed before the public release of iOS 16.1, in iOS 16 beta 4. But interesting that the bug is still present when accessing after Timeline ends without the app calling reloadAllTimelines(). I’m thinking the bug is actually related to the fact that Live Activities don’t allow access to any of the privacy-scoped resources, not even the network, and since both Widgets and Live Activities are part of WidgetKit, maybe one is affecting the other.

And now there are 6 days to go for the RC, this still isn't fixed.
