Try this: In the playground on your iPad, tap the ... at the top-right Tap Advanced Tap Export New Playground Tap Share Exported Playground AirDrop it over to your Mac, then right-click and select Show Package Contents Go into Contents - PrivateResources Delete everything that you want to delete The playground should be much smaller now AirDrop it back to your iPad Run the new playground

As EugeneL mentioned - https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/669955?answerId=664128022#664128022, my solution was to open a file in a new window. However, someone else discovered that opening a new tab works even better. There's an assortment of other solutions here.
