The change in the hidden photos folder means that now when trying to attach a photo in Facebook, Tumblr or some other app, the hidden photos folder is no longer available in the list of folders to pick from. In order to attach a hidden photo, you have to unhide it first. The problem is with the way Apple has changed the Recents folder to be inconsistent with the way people use it. I want recents to be just that, recents that I have not sorted into a folder - be it an album or hidden. I don't sort photos as soon as I take them. I used to use hidden to make the recents album smaller, but now the hidden feature is basically unusable.
