I had the same problem. Keyboard was working fine and suddenly stopped opening - no update or any other change. Like Claude31 said Toggling the software keyboard off then on works. For me this happened when tapping a UITextView with custom inputView.

just spent some hours trying to figure out how to do it programatically. I ended up changing my query so it doesn't need the index at all. see my answer
