Strange - had this issue for a few weeks and couldn't resolve it. I tried changing languages, rebooting, many things - never could get it to work on my mac. However, thought I'd try it again - switched Siri language to Canadian english (with AI off) and then turned it back to American English and turned it on and it worked.
