Hold on, I was using a different forum. Navigating this stuff is confusing, sorry!

Final cut camera shows the camera message and lets you record video, just no image.

Black Magic App shows the same message but only mentions the microphone. Shutter, ISO, etc. all update as you move the phone, there's just no image. You're able to hit the record button and the video is saved, but again no image.
