This isn't a solution, but we've had the same problem with our school-issued iPads. We have many students using TouchChat HD with WordPower with Guided Access turned on. We also have the problem where you cannot attempt the Guided Access passcode (it won't respond to touch) and have to do a forced reset. After it restarts, it will allow you insert the code. But then if you try it again after putting it into Guided Access, the same problem occurs. For a temporary solution, here are the steps that I take:
-Update iOS
-Update TouchChat HD with WordPower app
-General>Display & Brightness>Auto-Lock>2 minutes
-General>Accessibility>Guided Access>On (set a memorable passcode)
-Open TouchChat, Triple Click for Guided Access; Options>Toggle On Wake/Sleep (That way, the device will be able to "fall asleep" and you will have the ability to manually turn on/off iPad display.)
I'm with you. Apple needs to fix this ASAP. If you ask me, the default setting for Guided Access should have the Wake/Sleep turned on so that the iPad has the ability to "fall asleep."
