Thank you very much for the quick reply — I read it in an instant like an interesting book, and it was really interesting to learn the history behind those HAP services. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever met a single person who was fully satisfied with the Matter standard; it seems the creators of Matter did a colossal amount of work to foresee absolutely every scenario, so that nobody would ever get the idea of creating their own protocol because something is missing in Matter. :)
On the other hand, I can’t fully agree with you — Auto mode is needed, and as far as I can see, with the Thermostat device type Auto mode already works perfectly in the Home app. Given that both the Room AC and Thermostat device types (naming the device type and its main cluster the same was an unfortunate choice — how many misunderstandings it has caused ;) ) are driven by the very same Thermostat cluster, from the outside it doesn’t look like a big change, though I may well be missing something: whatever mapping makes Auto work for Thermostat should apply to Room AC as well.
But getting back to the thermostat — are there any plans to fix this so that the Room AC device type becomes usable?
Thank you!
