I have just upgraded to Xcode 12.5. I attempted to record a UI test and while Xcode shows that the recorder has started, nothing is written to the test function. Sometimes the recorded content is slow/delayed, so I even waited for it to "catch up" for about 5 minutes, but nothing came through.
