Hi folks,
I experience nausea and visual discomfort when looking at the screens on my Apple devices. However, I’ve noticed that this discomfort goes away when I switch to beta versions of iOS or macOS.
While trying to narrow down the cause, I found that the following changes also eliminate my symptoms on the stable release of macOS:
On my MacBook Pro, changing the display preset from “Apple XDR Display (P3-1600 nits)” to “Apple Display (P3-600 nits).”
On my MacBook Air (M5, 15-inch), changing the color profile from “Color LCD” to “Display P3.”
These observations make me wonder whether the issue could be related to gamma curves or how colors and brightness are rendered, though I’m not sure.
On my iPhone, I haven’t found any display settings that provide similar relief. So far, switching to an iOS beta has been the only thing that helps.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Could any display experts or Apple engineers offer insight into what might explain this, or suggest settings I could test?
Thanks!
