My reading of CalDigit's support knowledge base is to unplug the dock before you put your Mac to sleep and wake up your Mac first for a few seconds before plugging the dock back in to reduce the kernel panics, it sounds like a crude solution and is not perfect, but seems to have brought some relief. Not 5-10 kernel panics per day but maybe 1-2.
