OMG, Thank you! It was a trust issue. apple root CA - G3 was set to always trust. I tried to change it in keychain acess but it wouldn't stick. I deleted the certificate, redownoaded and reinstalled with defaults and stapling started working. Thank you for your timely help Best. Phil
