@jmhalvo - correct - New Outlook cannot accept on premise Exchange servers, only O365.. it also does not support pop accounts or local folders..

@Daliah -  I had originally installed Outlook from the App Store.. in order to upgrade to the Beta 16.58, I reinstalled Outlook from MS O365 office download then chose Help->Check for Updates->Advance - select Beta Channel -> Drop Down menu - Outlook 16.58 I did this a few hours ago and search is fully functional..

yes, tried uninstalling and reinstalling office, all of the other tips and tricks and the "new" outlook works fine, however the "old" outlook does not work.... unfortunately "new" outlook does not work with on premises exchange servers..which in itself is idiotic as they are both MS products..
