iPhone connection worked for me! Over a year later and this bug still exists. Thanks for sharing a workaround. Hard to believe the iPhone has a more tolerant AFPS system than the Mac. DiskDrill was able to mount it so maybe Apple just wants us to pay them a license instead of fixing their own bug.
