The proposal specifically addresses this situation. Type inference is possible for a one-element tuple type like (repeat String), but we are unable to explicitly declare one in source. See Swift Evolution Proposal 0393 Value and Type Parameter Packs.

It's an experimental feature introduced in Swift 5.9.

Xcode 15 (15A5160n) any new project with simple TextField("name", text: $name) bound to @State var name: String = "". No input received from keyboard.

That's the issue. I am unable to use the Mac's keyboard for input in the Xcode canvas. Typing does not input text.
