would chameleon still be actively maintaned i had not written this post. the charme of Chameleon is that it works and does not restrict the usage of AppKit. there are far less #ifdef's needed to make iOS code run on macOS via Chameleon than are needed to make iOS code run on Mac Catalyst. 3 months from now: --> that's a good point!
