Delete the corrupted per-user display preferences by running this command exactly:rm ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.windowserver.displays*.plist Delete the system-level window server preferences:sudo rm /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver*.plistEnter your administrator password when prompted. Force the Dock to restart so macOS reloads display configuration from scratch:killall Dock Restart your Mac, then reconnect the USB-C dock or cable. macOS will generate clean preference files on the next boot.
